We would like to clarify a few important points - 183 kcal is the energy value of the entire SHOOK shake, not of 30g of protein. SHOOK is not simply flavoured protein powder. One bottle contains 30.1 g of protein, dairy components, dietary fiber, and 10.4 % real freeze-dried berries/fruit. Freeze-dried fruit also naturally contains carbohydrates and calories. If the goal were to produce 30 g of protein powder and mix it with water, of course there would be fewer calories, but that would be a completely different product.
SHOOK was developed not as ordinary flavoured protein powder, but as a convenient, pre-portioned product whose formula deliberately uses real freeze-dried fruit, fibre, and a high-quality protein source.
Another very important aspect is the protein itself. SHOOK uses high-quality whey protein isolate (WPI). From the analysis of the ready-to-drink protein shake market, practically everywhere the main protein source is whey protein concentrate (WPC), milk protein concentrate or plant proteins, or more generally described as whey/milk proteins. This is one of the reasons why most ready-to-drink protein shakes are cheaper.
Isolate is a more purified and considerably more expensive raw material than regular concentrate. It has a very high protein concentration, low levels of fat and lactose, contains all essential amino acids and is high in leucine and BCAAs. This is precisely why whey isolate is considered one of the highest-quality protein sources, also known as the king of proteins.
We chose the isolate used in SHOOK for a reason. During product development, we tested quite a few protein samples from different European and US manufacturers. In the end, Lithuanian “Rokiškio sūris” protein isolate was chosen, because it delivered the best result in terms of quality, taste and solubility in cold water. We also have the manufacturer's quality documentation and specifications for this raw material.
We would also like to clarify the information about the sweeteners. After reading the ingredient list, one might get the impression that the product contains a large amount of three separate sweeteners: erythritol, isomalt, and sucralose. However, the actual formula is different. A complex sweetener blend is used, about 75 % of which consists of dietary fibre, while only the remaining portion consists of sweetener components. Therefore, the actual amount of each individual sweetener in the final 57 g product is very small. This sweetener was developed by a PHD scientist and is impressive, because 75% of the sweetness can be obtained precisely from fibre, and only 25% is made up of the sweetener blend. Such a small amount usually does not cause any sensitivity in consumers.
Another important aspect about Nutri-Score A. When developing the product, we changed and refined the formula specifically to achieve the highest Nutri-Score A rating. Not all of the initial formulas received it, so the proportions of fats, sugars, fiber, protein, and other ingredients were adjusted until the desired overall nutritional profile was achieved. Nutri score A shows that the product has a perfect balance between protein, fat, carbohydrates, and sugar.
The 30 g protein amount was also chosen deliberately. 30 g of high-quality protein per serving falls within the effective protein amount per serving most commonly mentioned in the scientific literature. And by using high-quality whey isolate, you also get a very good profile of essential amino acids and leucine.
SHOOK was created for an entirely different category: 30 g of high-quality protein, real freeze-dried fruit, dietary fibre, low in sugar and fat, a precisely pre-portioned serving, and maximum convenience – just add water, shake, and drink. Evaluating a product, it is important to compare not only the price or number of calories, but also what those calories come from, what quality raw materials are used, and what the consumer gets from the product’s overall formula. In real life, quite a few people, in order to achieve a more pleasant taste, texture and a more filling shake, additionally add a banana, berries, milk, honey or other ingredients to whey powder. At that point, the calorie content of the final shake, its nutritional value, and the actual cost per serving also change.
SHOOK was simply created so that a person would not have to carry around protein packages, a measuring scoop or a shaker, or add additional ingredients to achieve a good , natural taste. And a SHOOK user pays not only for grams of protein, but buys a specific formula, a precisely prepared serving, quality raw materials and convenience. SHOOK was created for people who don't have time to eat, as a smart fast food alternative, when you on the road, between meetings, or taking care after a baby. Or after work out you might want higher-quality protein, rather than a ready-made concentrate or plant-based protein shake.
SHOOK is for those who value quality, time and investing in themselves.
